Frequently Asked Questions…
What Age range is appropriate for massage or energy work?
All ages! I was trained in prenatal and postpartum massage and have done massage on newborn infants mostly in the context of showing parents how to calm gassy bellies etc.
Young children sometimes enjoy massage but generally I have not done full sessions on children until around 7 or 8 yrs of age. Even then, we sometimes do half an hour.
Teenagers and adolescents get a lot of benefit from healthy touch which enforces better body image, body mechanics with studying and sports activities and helps relieve some of the many stresses young people are faced with. I have also had some very powerful polarity sessions with teenagers suffering trauma or anxiety.
Elderly people are often neglected of healthy touch. I have had numerous elderly clients with so many physical issues and so much pain. I even had the honor of working with an elderly woman with cancer weekly until she passed.
Do I have to undress for a massage?
I always start the session by sitting down with my clients and finding out what is going on so I have a clear idea of what the intention for the session may be. Once this is established I leave the room so you can undress in private. You are always welcome to leave underwear on, and if we are only working one part of the body it is up to you how much you disrobe. However you feel comfortable is most most important. I ask that bras are removed if we are working the back or shoulders and that all jewelry that can come off does. You will lay on a padded massage table with the option of a heated blanket and you will be covered by a sheet and blanket at all times. I only undrape the section of the body I am working on so you do not feel overexposed or cold.
I have been working on all types of bodies of all shapes and sizes and I do not care what they look like or feel like. I do not judge you if you didn’t shave your legs or if you have a weird toe. Please let me know if you have any rashes or diseases or are sensitive to raw organic coconut oil. Otherwise dont worry about it, relax and enjoy!
Who, how and when do I pay?
I am blessed to have an awesome reception team here at the heart of wellness to greet you as you come in the door. I do not pay them to work for me, however, as they are employed only by a handful of therapists and doctors in the building. If at all possible I ask that you do not interrupt their busy day and direct your questions to me by phone or text at 360-480-0342 or email at earthinheart@gmail.com . Please come prepared to pay me in my office and know your copay or coinsurance payment if you have insurance. I ask that cash clients also bring exact change in cash or check. Or you can prepay on my website. You can either pay at the beginning or end of the session. Tipping is never expected but it is just fine with me if you want to tip. If you cannot afford the full price I am often open to partial bartering and sometimes to discounting the cost to make it work for you as long as we have discussed this before you arrive.
Other random tidbits…
Please shower before you come and if you want me to work your feet I prefer they arent super dirty.
Please do not wear perfume or strong smelling toiletries.
Please be aware of noise level and keep your voice low so as not to disturb the other patients in the building.
Please remember to turn your phone off.
Please remember to use the bathroom before you get on the table.
Please drink lots of water after your massage to assist the release of toxins.
Please know that I always try to give a full hours time but sometimes my day is really full so I have to cut it a few minutes short. If you can reschedule online or by text instead of in person that is preferred. Also keep this in mind when you are finished with your treatment not to fall asleep or take more than a few minutes getting dressed (I know this can be hard!) . This also means that if you are late I cannot go over time and talking is included in the massage time.
If I am running more than a few minutes late and cannot make it up to you at the end- then please let me know and we can work out a price cut or tack on extra minutes to your next session. I know you have sat in a doctors office way past your scheduled time before- so you know that it is not always the practitioners fault when things go over. I also know how precious those moments of relaxation are and I try my best to honor that!
If you do not like the music or prefer no music just let me know and I am happy to oblige.
If you do not want me to talk to you just say so- I am never offended by this. I enjoy giving most to those who can receive. Please know that I may still check in with you about pressure, though.
If you have any questions or concerns never hesitate to ask.
If you have any compliments or testimonials feel free to email or post them here!
thank you thank you thank you!
