Day 3

Day three and I must say I feel pretty good today. I slept in until 7:30 (no yoga due to the new moon) and went for a super great  5.5 mile run this morning in the crisp cold. I noticed that all the other runners I passed were smiling. Everyone out at 9 a.m. seemed very…happy. Perhaps I was feeling happy too. I definitely feel more clear and crisp, myself.

I ate two bowls of kicharee today with steamed chard. Very filling! I realized that I don’t normally eat very much in the grain department, and usually have a diet heavy on the veggies especially raw ones. Today for a snack I had some celery, and this was the hi-light  of my food experience. Even over the apple which I rationed throughout the day. I am considering doing more veggies, maybe even a little salad because it feels so good in my body and I miss salad! But we’ll see.

My goal of bringing more calm and less stress has been naturally meeting itself. I was at work for 8 and a half  hours today, but spent a chunk of that time doing computer work, so it wasn’t all massage. I usually avoid this like the plague, but today I didn’t notice any of my normal distraction tactics creeping up to pull me away from the computer. Therfor I didnt have to stress out that I didn’t get it all done (what a concept)! Instead I just sat down and did it! This may not seem like a big deal- but if you knew me- and how my head works- you would probably be shedding a tear. It is a small miracle for me to spend a day at work (or anywhere) being quiet, productive, not overwhelmed or overdoing it. Normally if I had a massage cancellation and ended up with room in my day I would be running around town multitasking like a madwoman. The meditation helps. The intention to make lots of space in my life, to talk less and breath more- helps. Sleeping a full eight hours helps too. In general, I would say that today this feels more like a cleanse for my spirit than my body.

If I wasn’t still wishing I could drink coffee… sigh.
